Ubiquiti cable buying guide

Direct attach copper cables

A direct attach copper cable has an SFP+ connector on each end. It links two devices over a short run, such as a switch to a nearby switch or server in the same rack. The UniFi cables here are rated at 10 Gbps. Both ends need SFP+ ports, because a standard RJ45 port will not accept them.

ODN cable for fiber gear

The UniFi ODN cable is listed at 0.5 meter, a short patch length for fiber equipment. Fiber patch cables must match the connector type on the equipment at each end, so check your modules or panels before you order. If you need a different length, send us a request.

Tough Cable accessories

Tough Cable accessories are used on outdoor Ethernet runs. This category carries a Tough Cable carrier, grounding connectors in packs of 20 and a 100 pack of surge protection connectors. Grounding and surge protection help guard connected equipment against electrical spikes that can travel along an outdoor cable.

Common questions

Can I use a direct attach cable between any two switches?

Only if both switches have SFP+ ports that run at 10 Gbps. Check the port type on each device before you order.

Do I need surge protection connectors?

They are optional, but they are worth considering for outdoor or rooftop runs, where lightning and static can reach your equipment through the cable.

Can you help me choose a length?

Yes. Send us the two device models and the distance between them through our quote page and we will suggest a match.
