Paging and Intercom Speakers

The speakers for an overhead paging system are listed in this category. Options include 8 inch round ceiling speakers, 15W paging horns for loud areas, wall baffle speakers and Wheelock strobes and bells for visual alerts.

School administrators, warehouse managers and office staff buy here to extend coverage, fix a dead zone or make announcements heard over machinery. Volume controls and transformers are available on several models. Call KX-TD at (866) 205-4112 to work out how many speakers a space needs.

Before you order

  • Check the voltage. Speakers are listed as 25V, 70V or 8 ohm, and must match your amplifier output.
  • Match the mount. Ceiling, wall, pendant, horn and in-wall speakers need different openings, so check the space.
  • Add up the wattage. Total speaker wattage should stay below the amplifier rating.
  • Not sure? Call (866) 205-4112 with your room details and we will help.

Paging and intercom speakers buying guide

Ceiling speakers

VALCOM, Bogen, SPECO and Viking Electronics list ceiling speakers in sizes from 5.25 inch to 8 inch, plus 2 by 2 foot lay-in models. Many include back boxes or volume controls. Choose by ceiling type and by how loud the room needs to be.

Horns for loud areas

Horns suit warehouses, shops and outdoor areas where background noise is high. Bogen, VALCOM and Wheelock list paging horns, marine horns and self amplified models. Check that the horn can take the weather where you install it, and its wattage.

Amplified and IP speakers

Self amplified speakers carry their own amplifier and need power at the speaker. VALCOM also lists IP speakers and horns. Confirm whether your system sends analog paging or IP audio before you pick a speaker type. Ask us if you are unsure which one suits your system.

Wall, pendant and alert styles

In-wall, slim line, wall baffle and pendant speakers fit rooms where a ceiling speaker will not work. Wheelock horn strobes add a visual alert for emergencies. Check the voltage and the mounting style of each one. Mounting style and size should match your wall or ceiling.

Common questions

Can I mix 25V and 70V speakers?

Not on the same line. Match the speaker voltage to the amplifier output.

What does self amplified mean?

The speaker has its own amplifier. It needs a power supply and an audio feed.

Do I need a transformer?

Some speakers include one and others sell it separately. Check the listing or ask us.
